Explain this result
Basic salary is 50% of your CTC: ₹6,00,000 a year. Your employer's PF (₹72,000) is part of CTC but never reaches your bank account, so gross salary = CTC − employer PF − gratuity = ₹11,28,000.
From gross salary we deduct your own PF (₹72,000), professional tax (₹2,500) and income tax under the new regime (₹0, using FY 2026-27 rules).
Take-home = Gross − Employee PF − Professional tax − Income tax = ₹10,53,500 a year, or ₹87,792 a month.
Actual payslips also depend on allowances, HRA exemption, bonuses and reimbursements.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my in-hand salary lower than CTC ÷ 12?
CTC includes the employer's PF and sometimes gratuity and insurance, which are not paid to you monthly. From the rest, your own PF, professional tax and income tax (TDS) are deducted.
How much PF is deducted from salary?
Usually 12% of basic salary (plus DA) from you, and a matching 12% from your employer. Many employers calculate PF only on the ₹15,000 wage ceiling.

Worked example: ₹12 lakh CTC
With basic at 50% of CTC, PF on full basic, the new tax regime and Maharashtra professional tax: employer PF (₹72,000) comes out of CTC, employee PF (₹72,000) and professional tax (₹2,500) are deducted, and income tax is nil thanks to the rebate. Take-home is about ₹10.54 lakh a year – roughly ₹87,800 a month.
What comes out of your CTC

- Employee PF – 12% of basic, deducted from salary.
- Professional tax – a state tax, up to ₹2,500 a year.
- Income tax (TDS) – based on the regime you choose.
